Public Release of the New ERCA Training Syllabus

We would like to raise everybody’s awareness to the public release of the revised version (July 2024) of the ERCA training syllabus. The full document is now publicly available. This syllabus provides information for training on permanent and temporary ropes courses. The syllabus describes course aims and objectives, content, methods of teaching, course duration, as well as assessment criteria. Mobile ropes courses are not covered within the current syllabus.

This course is offered an run by our member Capstone Inspections Ltd.

Due to their limited lifespan and exposure to external elements, wooden poles require a comprehensive inspection. Being familiar with wooden poles, the specifications, treatments, maintenance, durability and structure of them is an essential part of being a Pole Inspector.

This informative and hands-on course has been designed by Capstone and co-written by David Borrie. David is one of the UK's leading experts on wooden poles having worked in the utility sector and been part of the team who wrote EN 14229:2010 Structural timber. Wood poles for overhead lines.

This course is ideal for anyone wishing to further their knowledge and understanding of wooden poles.

If you are an operator of a pole-based course, work within construction of the industry and/or want to further your inspection qualifications to become a Type C Inspector, you will find this practical, hands-on course both informative and invaluable.
