Public Release of the New ERCA Training Syllabus

We would like to raise everybody’s awareness to the public release of the revised version (July 2024) of the ERCA training syllabus. The full document is now publicly available. This syllabus provides information for training on permanent and temporary ropes courses. The syllabus describes course aims and objectives, content, methods of teaching, course duration, as well as assessment criteria. Mobile ropes courses are not covered within the current syllabus.

Description

It is essential that all persons undertaking work at height, such as inspections, maintenance and repair work on adventure structures have the required theoretical knowledge and practical experience to undertake the work safely.
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to access structures normally found in the adventure industry such as climbing walls, ropes courses, zip wires, giant swings, individual roped elements and man made structures, in order to comply with the regulations.

Course content:
• Law and regulations
• Choice of equipment
• Anchor point and knots
• Fall arrest and positioning
• Ascending and descending on ropes
• Horizontal traversing
• Rescue and self rescue

The course is recognised for candidates applying to become an 'ERCA-certified inspector' according to the 'ERCA Inspector training scheme'.
